01 — What we make

Three ways into ceramics

Everything at the studio starts the same way: wet clay, a pair of hands and time. Where it goes from there depends on you.

Ceramic pieces

Bowls, cups, plates, vases and decorative objects formed on the wheel or built by hand, then fired and glazed in the studio. Each piece carries the small marks of how it was made.

Artistic hand painting

Colour applied stroke by stroke — patterns, motifs and illustrations painted onto bisque ware with underglazes and glazes, so the design becomes part of the surface after firing.

Ceramics & pottery workshops

Hands-on master classes on the wheel, in hand-building and in surface decoration. You work with real clay and leave with an understanding of the whole process, not just one step of it.

02 — From clay to colour

How a piece comes together

  1. 1

    Wedge & form

Clay is kneaded to remove air, then thrown on the wheel or shaped by hand into its first form.

  2. 2

    Trim & dry

At leather-hard stage the piece is trimmed, refined and left to dry slowly so it doesn’t crack.

  3. 3

    Bisque fire

A first firing turns fragile greenware into porous bisque, ready to take colour.

  4. 4

    Paint & glaze

Designs are painted by hand and glazes applied — this is where the colour of the studio comes in.

  5. 5

    Glaze fire

The final firing melts the glaze into glass and fixes the painting into the surface for good.

03 — Master classes

Learn at the wheel

Our workshops are built around doing, not watching. Formats and dates are arranged directly with the studio — send us a message and tell us what you’d like to try.

Wheel throwing

Centering, opening and pulling walls — the core skills of pottery on the wheel.

Hand-building

Pinch, coil and slab techniques for shapes the wheel can’t make.

Painting on ceramics

Working with underglazes and glazes to decorate bisque ware by hand.

Private & group sessions

Sessions for individuals, friends or teams — ask us about a format that fits.
